SERVPRO Knows Cleaning of All Flavors

Invasive bats entered this residential attic through a broken window and contaminated the attic space floor and insulation with unexpected bat droppings that caused an odor throughout the home. In this case, a full service restoration company was required to safely remove the contaminated materials, and heavily clean the space to prevent exposure to certain health risks that could cause potential disease. SERVPRO of Northern Sussex County was called in to successfully handle the entire clean-up and remediation process using proper industry standards, guidelines, and safe practices for dealing with hazardous materials, after being notified that the bats were removed. The process involved the removal, cleaning, and bagging of the contaminates, including the disposal of the old insulation. Detailed Hepa-vacuuming and cleaning was required, along with an application of a disinfectant agent. A negative air fan/scrubber was needed for 72 hours, and another round of disinfectant with a wet fogger was applied through ULV wet fog. Although SERVPRO tried to save as much materials as possible, new batt insulation was needed, and new plywood sheathing was installed.
